The 5-day Morocco desert tour from Tangier is a journey through the diverse landscapes and cultures of Morocco. Starting from the coastal city of Tangier, you will travel across the Rif Mountains, visit the blue town of Chefchaouen, explore ancient Roman ruins, and wander through the imperial cities of Meknes and Fes. Enjoy the sights of the Atlas Mountains, camel treks in the Sahara desert, and beautiful gorges, before finishing the adventure in the vibrant city of Marrakech.
After breakfast, depart Chefchaouen and visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its well-preserved mosaics, arches, and pillars. Continue to Meknes, an imperial city, where you can visit the famous Bab Al-Mansour, Sahrij Souani, the royal stables, and the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. Afterward, head to Fes and spend the night in a riad/hotel.
After breakfast, drive to Ifrane, often called the "Switzerland of Morocco" due to its alpine-style architecture and snow-capped mountains. Continue through the cedar forest, home to wild macaques. Stop in Midelt for lunch, and then cross the scenic Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and Ziz Valley, known for its vast palm groves. Arrive in Merzouga Desert, where you will ride camels through the sand dunes and experience a breathtaking sunset. Overnight in a luxury desert camp, enjoying Berber music and a campfire under the stars.
Travel from Merzouga to Boumal Dades, stopping along the way to visit Erfoud’s metal excavation museum and an old irrigation system used in the oases. Continue to Todra Gorges, where you can walk along the river between towering cliffs. Later, visit the famous "Monkey Fingers" rock formations and the Tisdrin curves before arriving in Boumal Dades for your overnight stay.
After breakfast, head to Kalaa Magouna to explore the Rose Valley, home to the annual rose festival. Continue to Ouarzazate to visit the film studios and Kasbah Taourirt. From there, visit Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its role in films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Afterward, drive through the Tizi N’Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains, making stops for lunch and scenic photos, before reaching Marrakech. End of the 5-day tour.
